Moana Live-Action Trailer Reaction — Beautiful or Just Another CGI Remake?
Welcome back to Movie World Plus, your home for movie talk!
I’m Matty Signor, a lifelong Moana fan. My family loves Moana. I love the story, the cast, the music, and yes—I even enjoyed Moana 2.
But the new Moana Live-Action Teaser Trailer just dropped, and honestly… I’m worried.
Disney is remaking a movie that isn’t even 10 years old, and the trailer raises one big question:
Why Do We Need a Live-Action Moana?
The original Moana is still one of Disney’s most gorgeous animated films. The water, the colors, the islands—everything feels magical and alive.
But in this new trailer?
Almost everything looks CGI-heavy, not practical, not natural, and not as enchanting as the animated version.
The Cast Looks Good — But the World Feels Fake
I’m not criticizing the actors.
Moana looks good. Maui’s design fits The Rock's stature. The music still sounds magical.
But forcing real actors into digital environments removes the heart of what made Moana feel authentic.
The original animation looked and felt more real than this “live action.”
This Could Have Been Moana 3 Instead
That’s the frustrating part.
Disney could have made:
Moana 3
A Moana Disney+ series
A new live-action Moana story (not a remake!)
A Moana & Frozen crossover (tell me you wouldn’t watch that!)
Instead, they spent millions recreating a movie we already love, frame by frame.
Are CGI Remakes the Future?
If Moana does well, get ready for:
Live-action Frozen
Live-action Zootopia
Live-action Encanto
Live-action Tangled
Maybe even live-action Toy Story 😅
But… why?
If the environments are mostly CGI, what’s the point of calling it “live action”?
Final Thoughts — Am I Wrong?
I love Moana. I’m open to new Moana stories.
But this remake feels unnecessary, rushed, and too artificial.
Maybe the full trailer will change my mind. But right now, this feels more like a cash grab than a creative project.
So Moana fans, especially you:
👉 Do you actually want a live-action remake?
👉 Or would you rather Disney make new Moana adventures instead?
